Job Stories From Louisville, CO
GeoLock Wall Anchors Installed in Louisville

A home in Louisville, CO had several cracks appearing in the basement walls. The home owner, concerned about his most valuable asset, sought out professional help for a correct diagnosis. After meeting with Peak Structural and the Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System being recommended to him, he was thrilled. He had previously spoken to several different foundation companies that had suggested much less desirable and expensive methods. Before the product was installed, the home owner wanted to know more about what was happening to his home. The specialist that wrote up the estimate was more than happy to answer all of his questions and address all of his concerns. First and foremost, the customer wanted to know what had caused the bowing walls. While there are several possibly causes for this sort of issue, the most common is the pressure from the dirt or soil on the outside wall. The more pressure there is, the more the soil pushes the wall itself in, causing the cracking and bowing. With the Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System, the customers basement will be stabilized permanently and the bowing wall will be straightened. This is accomplished by installing steel wall plates on the interior wall and embedding earth anchors in the outside soil. The anchors and wall plates are connected by steel rods which will work to both straighten and hold the bowing wall in its current position. Knowing his basement walls are stabilized, the customer is happy with the outcome and permanent solution.

We have a finished basement and our slab is rising in places and sinking in others. I fear it needs to be completely replaced. The drywall was hung too low and when the slab rose in places it pushed up the drywall and has caused some minor issues in the walls on the first floor.

Horizontal fracture in basement wall at approximately mid-grade. The fracture is displaced approximately 1/8" on the interior aspect, and is not visible at all on the exterior aspect. As near as I can tell, the foundation wall has barely moved off plumb. I did excavate to a level approximately 1.5 feet below the fracture line. The fracture exists only between the two window wells on the south side of the house, and there are sections that extend from the outside aspect of those windows to the ends of the home, which I don't believe are cracked. The length of the fractured section is about 8-10 feet. The foundation is 8-10" thick. I'm wondering whether carbon fiber straps on the interior wall might solve the problem. I've already taken care of the water drainage issue that I believe led to this issue, as well as studied the soil that I removed from the excavation. I have an aerospace engineering degree and am fairly technical. Any chance someone could come out this week for a look and an estimate? Thanks. Tom
